This delicious breakfast will not only make you feel good while you eat it, it will also increase the 'happy hormones' in your body for a longer lasting impact. Full of serotonin boosting vitamins from the banana and avocado and tryptophan from the cacao, it is a great choice for giving your mental health a little bit of love during this time.
Make sure you use a ripe banana in this recipe, as it will provide the sweetness that offsets the cacao.
Serves 1
5 minutes
Ingredients
1 medium-large ripe banana
50g/1/2 cup frozen berries
2 tbs ground flaxseed
2 tbs 100% cacao powder
1/2 avocado
2 inches cucumber
Handful spinach (fresh or frozen)
150ml almond milk
1 scoop protein powder (optional)
Toppings (optional)
Raspberries
Cacao nibs
Almond butter
Chopped hazelnuts
Method of Chocolate Smoothie Bowl
Put everything in a blender and then whizz until completely smooth.
You may need to scrape down the sides of the blender a couple of times to get it moving and always blend for a little longer than you think, to avoid any lumpy bits (2 minutes minimum!)
Finish with toppings of your choice and enjoy straight away.
